How did I install FC5 through the network?

  1. Booted off CD1 of the FC5, and at the prompt wrote "linux askmeoptions" Which asked me if I wanted to install from the network.
  2. I told it to use the "pegasus" driver for the USB Ethernet adapter I had installed.
  3. The server was my Windows computer running IIS. So the server was 192.168.1.3 and I had assigned the virtual directory "/FC5/" for it. (Turns out I could have written "FC5" as well. It prepends a slash.)
  4. No need to test the media - it's not going to install from there anyway.
  5. On my windows computer, I mounted my DVD-version of FC5 as a virtual directory named "/FC5" in the FTP service of IIS.
  6. Installed. Done.
