How do I change the desktop manager for X?

Well, if you take a look in /etc/X11/xinit/Xclients, you see that the script chooses the preferred desktop according to the value of /etc/sysconfig/desktop. I recommend reading the Xclients scripts to make sure that it understands the options you want, but here's what works on my computers:
