Uses of the Group Policy Editor, even for the home user

This might be a tool meant for use in a large domain or network, but you can use it to modify the behaviour of many windows features. You can edit MSIE's icon, change the titlebar text, and even globally add buttons to the toolbar. But the most interesting feature is the ability to add Startup and (more importantly) Shutdown scripts. This will be executed during Windows startup and shutdown respectively.

You can reach it by using "Start->Run" and typing gpedit.msc.
