ntpdate refuses to sync with a server that I know works. Why?

Sometimes servers only talk UDP, such as the one I used. So you must use a "-u" switch to make ntpdate or rdate use UDP as well. try:

# /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u timeserver.iix.net.il
