I want to get into Expert mode in my new Alcatel SpeedTouch, but I can't!

Some SpeedTouch modems with a ":software version" of GV8BAA3.270 don't support the EXPERT command. To reach the EXPERT mode, do:

:td
prompt

You will be prompted with something like:

========================DISCLAIMER=========================
Access to expert mode is intended for qualified personnel
only. Press ENTER to return to user mode.
=====================END=OF=DISCLAIMER=====================

'SpeedTouch (xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx)'
Password :

And there you have it - back to working whatevery mojo you want to do under EXPERT mode.
